Positive: We loved our stay at the Barrels. The owners are very friendly and the location is amazing. It was really nice having dinner and breakfast looking out over the vineyard. The food was very good, along with the wine. The room itself was huge and very trendy, featuring beautiful artwork created by the owners. The accommodation also had easy parking. I would recommend staying here instead of the town.

Positive: There are really no words to fully describe how wonderful this place is. Literally amazing, definitely our best stay during our trip in Albania. We stayed just one night due to the short period of time we had, but we wish we could have stayed longer.Ada and Marcel are incredible hosts; they made us feel welcome from the very first moment and interacted with us on many occasions, giving the best advice and sharing lots of emotions. Their place is a gem surrounded by nature and beautiful mountains, far from the noise of the city but still close to it (around 10 minutes by car from the old town). The room was really beautiful with a great view, and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was super: tasty juice, an omelette made from the eggs of their chickens, who you can see crawling in the garden, then butter, orange jam, and bread, all of them homemade, and to finish, a crepe with Nutella. Everything was delicious. We also had dinner there: we took the pork meat, of which we could smell and taste the grill; tasty salad with tomatoes, onion, and cucumbers; and to make our evening more interesting, we ordered a bottle of one of the 4 red wines that they produce. Super tasty. We also tried 2 glasses of another red wine and 2 glasses of their only white wine. Really tasty as well. Absolutely fair prices for what we had. We’d like to thank Ada and Marcel for this amazing experience and for making us feel at home. We will definitely come back!

Positive: The property is new and everything is of the best quality and in amazing condition. The owners are friendly and live on property. The property is in the middle of nowhere, so nice and quiet and secluded. They have chickens, dogs, cats, cows, etc. The eggs, butter, and figs used at breakfast come from the vineyard itself. There are lovely sunsets over the mountains and the whole area is peaceful and quiet. The Wi-Fi is fast and doesn’t even need a password since there are no buildings nearby anyways. Lots of sheep and shepherds will pass by the vineyard during the day.
Negative: The property is isolated. The only way to arrive is by car, so either rent a car or get a taxi every time you want to go to Gjirokaster. Public transit is essentially nonexistent here.

Positive: We visited early in the season and found that some improvement works to the restaurant had been delayed so facilities were limited. However the host did offer us a meal which was welcome as the site is a little outside Gjirokaster. The accommodation was very good, spacious and comfortable. The en suite bathroom is also to a high standard . Esmeralda was the star who looked after us and we thank her again for her attention.
Negative: As stated above works had overrun and perhaps The Barrels were not actually ready to accept guests, maybe they should not have accepted the booking because of this but they did try to compensate for any inconvenience.
Summary: It would be a beautiful venue when the sun shines.

Positive: The hosts were excellent, honestly the most caring hosts we have ever stayed with nothing was too much. It was such a special experience staying here eating their own home made food from the land and meeting the wonderful dogs and cats. The surroundings and setting on a sunny day would be difficult to beat! Honestly one of the best experiences we’ve had.
Negative: When we stayed the restaurant was still in development which should be ready in the next couple of weeks for guests to use! The work they’ve put into the new outdoor space is amazing and it looks like a beautiful space for the new restaurant. We will have to come back to try the traditional food here
Summary: One of the best and most unique experiences we’ve had in a long time.

Positive: This place was our favourite stay in Albania. Marcelo and Anda are amazing hosts and made us feel welcome from the first moment. Everything we ate is farm to table and in every detail we can feel that they put love in what they do. The room was very clean and comfortable. We had the best sleep. The wine was incredible. The breakfast so generous. I can keep on going.. You leave this place with a warm feeling in your heart. Away from the over touristic areas but close to many beautiful sights. We wish you all the best and if you ever come to Crete we will be very happy to see you Marcelo and Anda!

Positive: Marcel and his wife were so welcoming. Our room was beautiful, modern and very clean and comfortable. It was well heated with a beautiful view over their vineyard and towards the mountains. The bed was very comfy. There was a fridge in the room with drinks, and a kettle to make tea and coffee. The bathroom was very modern and clean, with a great shower and plenty of hot water. We had breakfast in their conservatory looking out over the vineyard. The food was absolutely delicious. I've never had a three course breakfast before! There was fresh bread, with delicious jam and creamy butter. Freshly prepared omelettes and crepes. We also ate there two nights, and the food was so good. We also really enjoyed a couple of bottles of their own wine. It was lovely to look out at the view, and watch the chickens and other animals. We will miss Rambo, his mum and Ricky the cat, such lovely animals. They really couldn't have done more to make our stay so special. We couldn't recommend highly enough.
